Why It's Important to Have Great Dating Photos

People shouldn't judge books by covers. And they certainly shouldn't choose their dating partners by the first photos they see of that person. But they do.

That means it's smart to control your image, just like celebrities do. Once people get to know you, it's not so important, but when you're making a first impression it is critical.  Fail here and you might not get a second chance to make a good impression.

How We Create Great Dating Photos

It starts with making you feel comfortable and relaxed. For some people, this is easy.  For others it is painfully difficult. With my extensive experience shooting all kinds of people, I'm really good and making people feel comfortable and even enthusiastic about the process.

Next it's a matter of camera angles and positions. Some photographers always seem to find bad angles and distorting positions.  We've all seen bad pics of beautiful people and good pics of average looking people. For example, if the shooter gets too close, you'll have a big nose. The wrong angle can make your chin look too large or too small. My experience in fashion and beauty photography has taught me well how to make people look their best.

The final and most important step is the retouching.  You'll look great because I make many, many changes. But the final image will look real and like you really look, because most of those changes are very small. Clean attractiveness without artificial glamour.

How It Works

We can shoot in my studio at 30 S. Michigan Ave. Or I can come to you. We can shoot inside or outside, depending on the look you want to achieve. We can even shoot inside and I can add an outside background, like in some of these samples. Comes in handy when Chicago weather fails to cooperate.

We'll do a lot of poses and variations on expressions and body language. You can't always tell what you're going to like until you see it.  I also give you feedback throughout the shoot by showing you some of the images as we capture them. You'll find that this can be very helpful.

If you have some specific ideas of looks you want to try, you can send me photos before the shoot and show them to me on your phone. As a fashion photographer I do a variety of looks and styles and would be glad to accommodate you.

When we're done with the shoot, you'll get a disc with hi-res copies of all images. They're yours to do what you want with. Once you make your choice, and I'll help if you like, I do the retouching and send you a proof by email. You might want changes. Do a little more here, do a little less there.

When you're totally satisfied, I'll send you final files, both hi-res for making prints and low-res for email and websites.

How Much Does It All Cost?

The fee for studio dating portraits is $125, including the disc of images, full retouching on one image of your choice, and preparation of final files for that image.  If you would like to shoot on location (inside or outside), e.g. your apartment or office, in a park, etc., the fee is $150.

Parking is available in a Millennium garage right across from the studio.
